Hawaii 5-0 We are going!
As it turns out Hawaii 5-0 isn’t such a bad way to learn about Hawaii. The show features breath-taking views across the different islands and explains tons of cultural rules regarding foreigners compared to locals.
Either way, my girlfriend’s amazing resume and negotiation tactics gained her an offer for 6 months in Molokai, Hawaii. For those of you that read through my other pages, at one point I mentioned the research on the top 5 places she had in mind. Not only did I put the word out amongst friends, I also actively researched. As a result, I was way more prepared when I found out about Hawaii then if I had not done any leg work.
To make a long story short, being aware of the employment climate there allowed me to prepare in time to apply for a course as a substitute teacher. It turns out there is a huge need for teachers. I just explained that in two sentences but it took weeks of research, phone calls and pure determination. Her friends threw her a going away party and that’s us celebrating in the photo. My lovely nurse went ahead for her orientation while getting situated and I am leaving within the week.
I have also done everything thing else that I have posted about in the hopes of having multiple streams of income. I will post more as I begin to travel and document my experience.
